Iron Workers Union Launches IW Mobile App

Jun 30, 2017

New app provides users round-the-clock access to union and industry news and communication

The Iron Workers Union (IW), a leader in the building trades’ industry, announced the launch of its mobile platform to meet the union’s goal of providing mobile outreach. The app, available for iOS and Android, was successfully implemented at the Iron Workers Union 43rd Convention and has been transformed into the new IW Mobile app.

“Whether on a smartphone, in local union halls, on the jobsite, and in job shacks and shanties, the Iron Workers Union is committed to connecting with our members, the workers in our industry and our communities. The IW Mobile app will allow for a broader outreach to provide a vigilant and loud voice for working families,” said Eric Dean, general president, Iron Workers Union.

The app, designed with the latest technologies, allows instant, anytime, anywhere access to keep users informed and in touch with the Iron Workers Union. With the app – available on the App Store for iOS and Google Play for Android — users will be able to:

  1. Gain access to the latest industry and union news and events
  2. View the online IW magazine
  3. Discover interactive content
  4. Receive direct member information from various IW departments, such as safety and health, apprenticeship and training, organizing and political
  5. Revisit the 43rd Convention
  6. Explore a career in ironworking
  7. Find a wealth of ironworker resources and publications
  8. And much, much more

The app is designed with members and non-members in mind. For non-members, a guest access level will give information about the union and the benefits and process of becoming a union ironworker. For members, once logged in with union credentials, the app will display resources and information important to brothers and sisters in the trade.
