The Iron Workers/AWS National Welding Certification Program is a highly respected and nationally recognized program. The program is a partnership with the American Welding Society and provides an unparalleled standard of excellence for welder training, qualification and certification. The benefits for Iron Workers (IW) members, signatory employers and owners are significant. The certifications provide portability; the ownership is with the ironworker welder and allows him/her to weld from the Atlantic to the Pacific, eliminating the need for requalification, saving time and providing a huge cost savings.
With economic growth, the rebuilding of North America's infrastructure and the amount of power plants being built and refurbished, the IW is training and testing members to meet the demands of the industry and is committed to providing the skilled union ironworker welders needed to get the job done right the first time.
The IW welding certification program database operates as an online, web-based system system and offers a fast, efficient method for the transfer of information, shortening the waiting period needed for IW members to get certification cards in hand and access the jobsite. The system also offers IW employers a quick check method for verification of qualifications/certifications issued through the National Training Fund.
