Kendall Martin was initiated into Local 5 (Washington, D.C.) in May 1994 and served the apprenticeship from 1994 through 1998. Kendall worked his way up in the field as a journeyman, foreman, general foreman and superintendent. In 2008, he was elected business manager/FST, serving for seven years. Additionally, Martin also served on the Metro Washington Council AFL-CIO Executive Board and the Maryland State and Washington, D.C. AFL-CIO Executive Board. Effective January 11, 2016, Kendall Martin was appointed general organizer. Kendall Martin, general organizer, promoted to general vice president effective July 13, 2020.
